Not Anymore

I needed you then

I will never need you again

Our small hand-written notes

and the heavy words on them

don't weigh me down anymore

I will not write

tales of mistakes and letting go

any more

I stopped searching

for a spark like the one you lit in me

because I carry fireworks inside my throat now

I shed the skin

that your painted hands

left marks upon

and grew an armour

I know I will love again

and be loved again

and I don't fear it

anymore

I do not hum

your melody

anymore

I dance to my own songs

all night

and this time

I dance

not to forget

but to remember

I think of your heart

only when I see

a fruit that was once sweet

but rots now

you taught me that poison is not always bitter
