Wonder

I wonder if you remember

the cloud shaped birthmark

on my left forearm

or how my smile formed

when we ended a fight

the way I remember

your crooked teeth,

and the shape of your fingernails,

or how your hair moved under my caress,

how your jaw clenched

when something went wrong

Before everything went wrong,

I always knew I was your safe place,

your saving grace

but also always knowing that you

you were never one for the safety​ rules

I know now

that the untamed are beyond saving

I know it hasn't been too long

but it feels like a thousand

lifetimes​ haved passed

since I saw you last

so all I do is wonder
